UAE delivers crucial aid to Lebanon, showcasing commitment to regional stability and humanitarian support.
The United Arab Emirates has sent its fifteenth aid aircraft to Lebanon, delivering 40 tonnes of essential food supplies, with a particular focus on providing nutrition for children. This relief effort is part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” initiative, launched under the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The campaign aims to provide critical support to the Lebanese people as they face severe economic and humanitarian challenges.
Since the beginning of October 2024, the UAE has delivered 672 tonnes of aid to Lebanon. The campaign has been actively overseen by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Chairman of the Presidential Court, with further direction from H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs and Chair of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations and Council Member, underscored the UAE's commitment to swiftly addressing humanitarian needs. He emphasized that the nation's leadership is dedicated to providing vital relief to alleviate suffering and promote stability in Lebanon. Al Shamsi noted that these efforts reflect the enduring humanitarian vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the deeply ingrained values of solidarity and compassion within Emirati society.
Beyond airlifts, the UAE is also supporting Lebanon through a maritime relief campaign. A UAE relief ship carrying 2,000 tonnes of aid recently arrived in Beirut, adding to the 772 tonnes already delivered by air. Additionally, the UAE is providing crucial support to Syrian refugees returning from Lebanon to Syria, partnering with humanitarian and charitable organizations to promote early recovery and strengthen regional stability.
In total, the UAE has sent 2,772 tonnes of aid to Lebanon and Syria, underscoring its proactive approach to humanitarian assistance. These efforts are designed to address immediate needs while fostering long-term recovery and resilience in a region that continues to grapple with complex crises.
