UAE Condemns Israeli Finance Minister’s Statements on West Bank Sovereignty Plans

The United Arab Emirates has issued a strong condemnation of Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s recent remarks regarding preparations for extending Israeli sovereignty over the Occupied West Bank next year.

In a formal statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its unequivocal rejection of what it described as “provocative statements and measures” that aim to alter the legal status of the Occupied Palestinian Territories. The Ministry asserted that such actions contravene internationally recognised resolutions, posing a risk of heightened regional tension and undermining ongoing efforts for peace and stability in the Middle East.

The UAE Ministry emphasised the need for concerted regional and international efforts to revive the peace process and halt any practices that endanger the two-state solution. The statement reiterated the UAE’s longstanding commitment to supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, as well as safeguarding the rights of the Palestinian people.

In addition, the UAE urged the international community to prioritise a ceasefire to prevent further casualties and to advance all diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive and just peace in the region. The Ministry’s statement reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to promoting peace, justice, and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
