Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s Kuwait visit aims to deepen UAE-Kuwait cooperation across strategic sectors.
In a highly anticipated visit, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE will arrive in Kuwait on Sunday, following an official invitation from His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait. The visit, expected to further deepen the UAE-Kuwait relationship, will focus on advancing cooperation across a variety of critical sectors.
UAE Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Matar Hamed Al Neyadi, emphasized the significance of the visit, noting that it builds upon the outcomes of the 5th Joint Higher Committee session held two months ago. “This visit stands as a cornerstone in our bilateral relations, underscoring both nations' shared commitment to harnessing their resources and expertise for mutual benefit,” Al Neyadi said. The recent committee session led to the signing of multiple strategic agreements covering areas such as tax avoidance, defence, infrastructure development, cybersecurity, environmental protection, and information technology – all designed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and bolster economic and security frameworks in both nations.
In Kuwait, the visit is being received with enthusiasm, both among officials and the general public, with extensive media coverage and city-wide decorations of streets and government buildings reflecting the longstanding bond between the two countries. According to Dr. Al Neyadi, the historic nature of President Sheikh Mohamed’s visit underscores the depth of UAE-Kuwait ties, forged over decades and continually reinforced through diplomatic engagement.
This year has already seen significant reciprocal visits, beginning with the Emir of Kuwait’s visit to the UAE, followed by key exchanges in September and October. These included the visit of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Minister of Interior, who collectively underscored the countries’ shared vision across diverse domains.
Reflecting on the broader Gulf landscape, Dr. Al Neyadi remarked that the UAE-Kuwait relationship serves as a model of cooperation and solidarity within the Gulf Cooperation Council, driven by deep-rooted historical ties and forward-looking leadership. He affirmed that this ongoing collaboration stands to benefit both countries while contributing to the stability and advancement of the wider region.
