Oman and Algeria Forge Stronger Ties with Eight Strategic MoUs

The Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria have signed eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during the Algerian President’s state visit to Oman. These agreements aim to enhance bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including education, financial services, employment, media, environmental sustainability, and investment promotion.

The MoUs focus on fostering collaboration in priority areas such as higher education, scientific research, sustainable development, and the organisation of exhibitions and conferences. They also address employment and training opportunities, aiming to strengthen connections between the public and private sectors of both nations.

Senior officials from both countries participated in the signing ceremony. Oman was represented by Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Minister of Finance Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, and Minister of Energy and Minerals Engineer Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi. Representing Algeria were Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Kamel Baddari, Minister of Finance Laaziz Fayed, Minister of Trade and Export Promotion Tayeb Zitouni, Minister of Environment and Renewable Energies Fazia Dahleb, and Omar Rekache, Director General of the Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion.

Speaking to the Oman News Agency, Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi highlighted the strategic importance of these agreements, noting that they will drive partnerships and enhance cooperation across a range of sectors. He explained that the MoUs are part of a broader strategy to exchange expertise and knowledge, ensuring that both countries benefit from mutual development. He also stated that follow-up mechanisms and executive programmes would be implemented to translate the agreements into concrete results.

Algeria’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf described the agreements as reflecting the shared priorities of the two nations. He noted that the MoUs are designed to advance cooperation in key areas and strengthen bilateral relations to achieve greater prosperity. By focusing on mutually beneficial goals, the agreements lay the groundwork for long-term collaboration.

These agreements represent a significant step forward in the relationship between Oman and Algeria, fostering economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development. With a clear commitment to implementing these initiatives, the partnership between the two nations is poised to deliver substantial benefits for their citizens and economies.
