Italy Doubles Scholarships for Libyan Students Amid Growing Demand for Italian Language Education

The Italian government has announced a significant increase in the number of scholarships available to Libyan students, underscoring Italy's commitment to fostering educational ties with Libya. Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, revealed that the number of scholarships for the academic year 2024/2025 has doubled, rising from 441 to 720, to support monthly cohorts of Libyan students pursuing studies in Italy.

According to Italy’s Nova News Agency, this expansion aims to meet the rising demand among Libyan students for Italian language education, which has grown markedly in recent years. Italian language programs and exchanges have seen sustained interest, highlighting a broader enthusiasm for Italian culture and academic opportunities among Libyan youth.

During a recent ceremony where he presented certificates to the Libyan scholarship recipients, Ambassador Alberini spoke about Italy's response to the surge in demand. "We have been able to increase the number to meet the very high demand we receive every year," Alberini noted, reflecting on the growing partnership between the two nations in education.
