Zayed Charity Marathon returns, raising funds for Hospital 57357 and celebrating Egypt-UAE humanitarian ties.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Egypt's Minister of Youth and Sports, has officially unveiled the details of the ninth Zayed Charity Marathon, scheduled for 27th December in the New Administrative Capital. Organised in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and TriFactory, this year’s event will raise funds for Hospital 57357, a prominent institution dedicated to pediatric cancer treatment.
During a press conference attended by Lieutenant General Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee, Dr. Sobhi spoke about the marathon's significance beyond being just a sporting occasion. “This event conveys a profound message of humanitarian solidarity and charitable work, while also strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between our peoples,” he said, highlighting the enduring vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to promote healthier and happier societies.
The minister further stressed the importance of the marathon in celebrating the enduring partnership between Egypt and the UAE, a relationship strengthened by the support of both President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Their commitment to this initiative underscores the depth of the ties between the two nations.
Lieutenant General Al Kaabi extended his gratitude to the various partners and organisations that have made this event possible. He acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Emirates Red Crescent, Fazaa, and the Al Habtoor Group, among other entities.
Dr. Sobhi also announced that this year’s marathon will feature an increased prize pool of 20 million Egyptian pounds and 400 Umrah trips, adding to its allure and encouraging broader participation.
The Zayed Charity Marathon continues to bring together communities from Egypt and the UAE, using sport as a platform for meaningful charitable impact and a celebration of shared values and collaboration.
